I graduated from the University of Wales, Bangor in 2005 with joint honours in Marine Biology / Oceanography, and then completed postgraduate studies with an M.Sc. in Marine Environmental Protection. During my four years of university study I have worked with Professor David Thomas on a variety of biogeochemical projects from estuarine studies to sea ice work. Last year I joined an international research cruise to the Weddell Sea, during which I was able to conduct my own independent study on CDOM in sea ice brines which formed the basis of my M.Sc. thesis.
Outside of science I am an avid follower of cricket, which I have been known to play if a pub team has been short of a player. Unfortunately enthusiasm outshines talent, and being a girl I can’t bowl properly (but I'm a great wicket keeper!!).
