Professor, Dalian University of Technology, PRC

Zhijun Li is professor in Dalian University of Technology, China. His professorial research field is sea ice physics and mechanics. He started Bohai sea ice physics and ice engineering studies after his graduation from Lanzhou Institute of Glaciology and geocryology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1985. His polar sea ice physics study started from 2002 and he attend two times of Antarctic scientific expeditions and one time of Arctic scientific expedition. The aim of his group’s polar sea ice study is searching the physical evidences and processes for polar sea ice modeling parameters from full scale observations. The group tries to find the optimal thermal diffusive coefficient for ice thermal mode and the optimal parameterization of drag coefficients for ice dynamic mode. Therefore, the group set up the annual ice temperature and thickness change observation system in Zhongshan Station, Antarctic. In this Antarctic expedition, he hopes to find the link of ice surface roughness length and physical roughness index and then develop the drag coefficients with ice surface physical roughness which is easy to get from satellite and air flight measurement data.
