Polar Knutsen

Travel Buddy and Education Supervisor

I was born on a small island north of Greenland and spent an idyllic youth frolicking in the icy seas of the Arctic searching for seals to eat. But I always knew something was missing from my life and I finally succumbed to the call of the unknown. I packed up my life in the Arctic and hitched a ride south with a migrating whale.

After seeing many amazing places in my travels around the world, I ended up settling on a beautiful island off mainland Australia called Tasmania. You know how life just falls into place sometimes? Well, somehow I ended up working at Rosetta Primary School (in Hobart). I feel really lucky that my class let me come on this trip and I am enjoying the challenges of reporting on the Antarctic to all the school kids around the world who are reading this website.

In my spare time I like reading, bungee jumping, writing poetry and playing twister with my friends. The thing I like most about my trip to the Antarctic is learning something new every day! I am most excited about the possibility of trying penguin pot roast - but I don’t like my chances!
