I graduated with a Masters degree in marine biology from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia. For my Masters degree, I studied the diversity of benthic organisms in coral reef ecosystems. During this study, I participated in the ROSES (Research on the Seas and Islands) expedition, a six-week voyage that studied the coral reef ecosystem in the Straits of Malacca and the South China Sea.

The SIPEX voyage will provide me a good platform for studying the marine organisms that live in extremely cold climates. In SIPEX, I’ll study primary production in the Southern Ocean and the sea ice zone using a fast repetition rate fluorometer (FRRF).
