Aaron Spurr is the Australian Antarctic Division's Science Technical Support (Acting) Senior Gear Officer. His main role on SIPEX is to provide mechanical and maintenance support to all science programs using AAD equipment. This involves operating and maintaining equipment at the ice stations ranging from the Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) which goes under the ice, to the jiffy drills, ice corers and generators.  Aaron will also be involved with deploying a range of trawl nets between ice stations, including the Surface and Under Ice Trawl (SUIT), the Rectangular Midwater Trawl (RMT), and other plankton nets.
